Here we provide two main products of ours, Microsoft Windows server 2003 as a solution for web caching and protection, and the GuardianBox.

A.    Microsoft Windows server 2003.

Aljazeera Telecom has specialized teams for configuring and installation of servers. The teams do configuration and installation and maintenance, and remote help for our customers. We do provide Microsoft Windows Server 2003 as a good solution for private networks. 

B.    GuardianBox.

The GuardianBox is a small hardware unit that provides a method for optimizing, controlling, monitoring and administrating the flow of information to and from the Internet. It can provide a number of useful benefits to all types of broadband users and is compatible with most operating systems such as Windows, Linux, Mac, Unix etc and will protect your entire network at point of entry.

Firstly, the GuardianBox provides your network with a hardened commercial grade Linux-based firewall – a technology the company is happy to report has had no known breaches since the product was launched.

Secondly, the product includes a web cache that provides a far more sophisticated service than most regular proxy servers. Like a proxy server, the GuardianBox will store a copy of any web page recently visited. If that page is visited again, instead of automatically serving the stored copy as with many proxy servers, a check will be made to determine whether that page has been updated since the last download. If not, the page will be served from the web cache rather than downloaded from the remote server. This method ensures that the demand on bandwidth is reduced whilst users are still guaranteed access the most up to date information available.

Thirdly, using the GuardianBox is comparable to enforcing an automatic ‘responsible use’ policy for your business as it allows you to control the type of content downloaded to your business. As this is an issue that is now being taken seriously across the EU it is becoming increasingly important for companies to protect themselves from the potential legal difficulties that can arise from employee content downloads that become the responsibility of the business.

This is particularly important for educational establishments where child protection is vital and the ability to prevent access to chat rooms is highly desirable.

Fourthly, GuardianBox is has sophisticated frontline anti-virus technology as standard. The GuardianBox scans every inbound email twice using two different scanning engines and definition files. This gives you twice the protection in one unit.

The GuardianBox is a preconfigured “fit and forget” device making it quick and easy for non-technical users to install and operate. More technically minded administrators will be pleased to know that by mid-2004, a new web-based user control panel will be available allowing configuration settings to be tweaked to your heart’s content. When this new feature goes live, configuration settings will be automatically backed up on a remote server to prevent there loss in the event of problems occurring onsite at the business end.
